All 3 volumes are also completely indexed in both Latin and English! Even more important for those who adhere to the traditional Rituale Romanum is that Fr. Weller prudently retained the Vulgate Psalter for all of the Latin renditions of the antiphons and psalms, while faithful English translations of the various liturgical hymns were rendered by Fr. Matthew Brit, OSB (from his own book, The Hymns of the Roman Breviary and Missal). As stated in the Foreword of his first completed volume (Vol. III in 1946), Fr. Weller compiled his set of The Roman Ritual for the clergy "as a manual and reference" and for the laity's "interest and enthusiasm for the rites and prayers of so important a part of the liturgical books of the Church." His indispensable 3-volume set was especially prized for its thoroughness in treating of the liturgical laws pertaining to each rite, as well as his copious and instructive commentaries. Fr. Weller 3 Volume Roman Ritual Set

As I've been reading this text, I find that it was well laid out from its first printing. The reprinted editions contain the same easy-to-read Latin text on the left side and the modern English text on the right side. Contentwise, the book explains theological reasoning and provides a well-formatted layout of the various traditions of the Roman Catholic Rite. In addition to being easily reviewed by the reader, the quality of the binding, cover, pages, and place marker are all very good. It is a good way to delve into the deeper realm and understanding of Catholicism.

Sater Design's Ultimate Home Plans Book

Form those who are familiar with Dan's work, it will be no surprise that this book is absolutely beautiful. It has over 150 home plans, many are on his earlier luxury plans book, but it seems over a third of them are new to this book. I really love the section featuring small luxury homes as I don't want a large home so much as a richly detailed one. As usual the photography is fabulous. I really am enjoying this book.

Characters Dana Meredith and Adrian Devereaux in Storm Over the Lake are at odds over a misprint in an article written by Dana. It's one of the forgive, forget and move on genre.Characters Shelby Kane and Kingston Brannt in To Love and Cherish are placed in a more creative story. Shelby's mother is a movie star so King assumes Shelby lives the same lifestyle. Both stories were written in 1979 and To Love and Cherish, especially, is difficult to find. These are not Palmer's best. The best are the stories set in Jacobsville, Texas, but these are good.

I love movies, but sometimes I want something that gives me another window on what a movie is about. This book discusses lots of movies, lots of different kinds of movies, and makes sense out of them in ways I would never have thought of. The writing is lively and light; the "moral" of the stories is laid out in ways I could understand. The Greeks only had plays, not movies, but I bet old Aristotle would have liked finding out how his theory works for modern cinema and not just classic tragedy or comedy.

I read this book while taking an Ethics of Film class, and let me tell you it was great! I have never been a very big fan of ethical theory, and I often found it to be dull and boring. However after reading this book I took a new liking to ethics, and saw some of my favorite movies in a totally new light!

Titillated but Dissapointed All the Same (WARNING: SPOILERS)

Having worked my way through a decent amount of BDSM Erotica, I decided my poor Kindle couldn't go without it either. This book kept popping into my recommendations, so I decided to purchase it.

For starters, the actual writing itself is choppy and amateurish. There are only a couple of paragraphs over three sentences long and the spacing is atrocious. The language used is boring and stale, with very little spice or words added for flavor. The story itself tends to jump from one point to another with very little thought in between. Merely a few plot points to get back to the meat and gristle, the sex scenes.

And onto those...As a submissive myself for over ten years, I was appalled at the scenes. While arousing for the content, the way they were arrived at and what happened in between was bordering on Rice's sexual play lands where rules don't exist at all. For starters, she's ordered into a cage in the backroom of their bookstore. No agreement, no talk of what the whole scene is about, and she's left there, completely alone, brand new and helpless. The trend continues with the rest of the scenes, very little consent is given and much is taken. As for the anal scene, I'm sorry...but that's something you work up to, not for first timers. The same is completely and utterly true about the caning. No matter how experienced the dominant, very very few would trust a cane to a fresh submissive. It's too severe.

The only positive little point this book has to offer is that the club scene is pretty much as described. Quite controlled, polite and helpful. This is the only reason this book even received 3 stars.

If you're looking for a short novel to arouse you, this one will do adequately. If you're looking for something to arouse and possibly give you ideas, go elsewhere. It seems like Anne O'Connell has done nothing more than decided to mine the gold that is the bdsm erotica section by scanning a few pages on google for her sources.

Unrealistic & contrived scenes

I read a lot of BDSM fiction and I found this to be among the worst. I couldn't decide if I should focus on the absence of emotion in the characters, the author's choppy and clinical (non-fictional) writing style, the lack of true character development, or the realism (or lack thereof). This review will examine the latter. It is unrealistic on several levels.

First, the character's actions and decisions were not in line with their personalities and experience levels. In short, what they did was unbelievable. I literally found myself appalled at times but not by the action, rather by the incongruous nature of it. Second, I felt like the author was walking through a BDSM checklist and conjuring scenes to incorporate all the props from it. Cage...check, flogger...check, spreader, ballgag, cross, whipping bench...check, check, check, check. And that was all on the first date with a first-timer. Totally unbelievable.

I felt this was insulting to people in the lifestyle and dangerous for those experimenting. Anal sex requires lubrication & Doms are not trained therapists (nor do they want to be). The anal action in this book wasn't only unbelievable, it would cause serious injury.

Even by the end of the story I never warmed up to the characters. This was partly because they were so stereotypical and partly because they didn't feel anything. Which may also be part of the reason why I got absolutely nothing from the sex scenes.

I gave this two stars because it was cheap. It cost about as much as a medium latte and it was slightly more interesting.

Painful to read

This was the first BDSM erotic novel that I ever read & I nearly avoided the whole genre after reading this book.

Amy was a really irritating character. The writing style & 'voice' given the character by the author didn't help either. Aside from that Amy was essentially abused by the Doms in the book. True BDSM is all about 'safe, sane & consensual' power exchange but that didn't happen in this book. After reading a multitude of other BDSM erotica & non-fiction since, I would have to guess that the author has no real knowledge of the lifestyle at all. The sex scenes & BDSM scenes brought tears to my eyes rather than titillation as Amy was taken advantage of by supposedly 'experienced' Doms.

Another part of the plot that concerned me was the fact that Amy was unable to use her safeword due to her psychological issues. Any experienced Dom would refuse to play with an unsafe partner & what was portrayed in this novel was unsafe sexual practice in my opinion.
