funny book

DEAR DUMB DIARY is the type of book that makes not only kids but also adults laugh. In this one, Jim Benton didn't falter his humorous story lines again. Jamie Kelly compares her mother's homemade clothes to monkey vomit, which is easy to see why if you have the cover in color. Also, Jamie shares more of her personal experiences with us when she tells the story of the HE WHO MUST NOT BE NAMED OR ELSE I WILL SPOIL THE BOOK clown. Furthermore, Jamie and Angeline debate and it turns into Isabella Paradise when Isabella managed to trick them (or rather Angeline) into doing a bet with Isabella's customed game Dare or Worse Dare…

Anyways, this book is great in general!!!!!

I liked this book very much but it is hard to understand it if you haven't read the books before it. Each character plays its part and the book is really funny from the first pages...
Sunday used to be the day I reserved for doing the homework I should have done Friday night or Saturday morning or Saturday afternoon or Saturday night, but these days I spend a lot of Sunday hiding from my mom, who has decided that she wants to make me clothes. Let’s just pause and take a deep breath and contemplate the staggering impact of what I just said. Back when she was a little girl, making your own clothing was probably a great idea. Her mom and the lady who harvested coal or whatever would take a covered wagon over to where they were planning on signing the Declaration of Independence one day, and they would make their daughters clothes. But not anymore, Mom.Not anymore

It's funny in some parts but some parts were a little bit confusing. She'd talk about something then get caught with another thing. But this book is really good.I recommend everyone who is reading this to read it.

Long Time Fan!

I am a long time fan of Dame Cartland. Her books were some of the very first books I ever read. Sometimes, if you grow up with an author, you will want to revisit her books again and again....and that's what I am doing. It's been a long time since I held her books in my hands; are the stories cheesy, you bet! Are the heroines/heros simplistic? Yes again! Then why read these books? Because even though I've "grown up" in my reading, I like to visit old friends. It's very comforting to know every story will have a happy ending. Boy gets girl; love rules. Come on! It's like a hug. And at the Kindle price, I can afford to revisit this old friend!

Thorough without being tedious

Being a bit old school, I learn better from a book even if it is about such a transient subject as social media and crowdfunding. This book is well laid out, thorough without being tedious and carries the spirit of crowdfunding in it.

Following His Green River

John Fogerty comes across as he describes himself, a loner. A driven one who believes he has been ripped off through his original recording contract with Fantasy. One who could not sing love songs because he missed out on it as a child and mostly through adulthood. I always wondered why there were no love songs with CCR and now I know.

Like many musicians the world over he was probably keen to get a contract and would have signed his life away, which he and the other CCR members virtually did. He became somewhat bitter and when he did get legal advice it went against common sense and he had to pay out more. Somewhat mixed in his comments about his three partners in CCR one gets the feeling they were not as committed or as talented as him and he became the driving force. To many he was a control freak but if he stayed back in the shadows nothing happened.

He takes us through his solo years including the ten long years where he basically became a hermit. Then he met his second wife Julie and transformation came. Since meeting her he has put out albums containing love songs and its a revelation to hear him like that. And a great one thing it is too.

I've seen him with CCR and on his own and he is certainly one of the great musicians of his time. His book is very open and a change from other glossy similar types.

I enjoyed reading the book and felt an empathy for him and glad that today he is generally at peace with himself and the world. This is a good book and you can hear his voice in the words as they jump out of the page at you, like the bullfrog in a green river.

I enjoyed the autobiography. Gives me a better insight of the man who I thought I knew pretty well. I thought he would be more scathing toward his ex-bandmates and Fantasy records

Valuable Advice and Insights - and Not Just for College Students

Living College Life in the Front Row offers a treasure trove of advice for the student who wants to make the most of the college experience. Vroman asserts that living in the front row means making the very most out of every opportunity. His interviews with hundreds of students provide a quick, easy read chock full of tips and suggestions for taking advantage of all the opportunities available on campus, both in and out of the classroom. For example, one student says "I lived college life in the front row by taking classes that are out of my comfort zone." Whether it's the idea that students should try something new, or that they should bring their best to class every day, Vroman takes an approach that really applies to life in general. Successful people have strategies the rest of us can learn from. While this books focuses on the college student, there's a lot here for any young person who is trying to build a satisfying life.

As a former career counselor and corporate recruiter, I strongly recommend this book as the perfect gift for new high school grads. As a mom, I immediately shipped it off to my son who is a junior in college. Fantastic

This book is absolutely phenomenal!!! Once I started reading it I just couldn't put it down! And though Im not a college student I still gathered a wealth of knowledge to apply to the real world! Some of which Ive heard before and have lacked application, but was reminded by this book how simple it is to take life to the next level!! Thank you Jon Vroman and contributing students!!! From this point further I will be living my life in the FRONT ROW!!!

good book

A very well written book. This book is sufficient enough to teach someone to read and write proofs; no professor needed. I don't understand why it's not being used more.

I also have the second edition only because the first edition started to fall apart. I feel the first edition Is better organized. Get the first edition!!!!. If your studying mathematics on your own, you should be able to go through Saunders MacLane and Garrett Birkhoff's Algebra after this. You don't need a linear algebra class. It's just going to make you dumber. I can't emphasize enough. Go buy the First edition and do every problem and then buy MacLane Algebra and go through that, which seems to be the perfect transition after this book. You will be able to handle MacLane after this.

Looks like a great textbook choice

Perhaps I shouldn't give stars yet, as I just received this book in the mail - but I certainly like the looks of it! I was shopping for a textbook to use in a Foundations / Transition to Advanced Math class that I am slated to teach next term. The target audience is undergrad math majors, mainly freshmen, who have just finished Calculus I, are concurrently taking Calculus II, and should be bridging between computational and theoretical mathematics in their sophomore and junior years. I have taught out of "A Transition to Advanced Mathematics" by Smith, Eggen and St. Andre, for a sophomore class at another institution. I liked the flow in that book (usually did the 4 core chapters on logic and proof, and sometimes parts of the other 3 chapters which sample other areas of math). But that text is quite expensive, and our student body is limited in financial resources. This book by Roberts looks every bit as good - maybe better - and is more affordable. I like the typeface, the clear writing style, the boxed definitions and examples that stand out and are easy to read, the plentiful and clearly stated exercises for practice, the historical notes, and the solutions to odd problems including full proofs. I suspect this book will turn out to be a real gem.

Basic Work on Theosophy

This book is an easy read, and not a bad primer to Theosophical thought. The work, while dates and heavily centered on the writings of Blavatsky, does a good job of distilling HBP's sometime very obscure and confusing writings in modern language that almost anyone can understand. The focus of the book is on the after death experience, spiritualism, ESP, and connections with the "next world". This certainly isn't a "must own" for the theosophist, but it is well done and easily understood.

Because Farthing is a more recent writer he uses plain English and I find the book easy to read and comprehend.
