About the Author

David Hucaby, CCIE No. 4594, is a network architect for the University of Kentucky, where he works with healthcare networks based on the Cisco Catalyst, ASA, FWSM, and Unified Wireless product lines. David has a bachelor of science degree and master of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Kentucky. He is the author of several Cisco Press titles, including Cisco ASA, PIX, and FWSM Firewall Handbook, Second Edition; Cisco Firewall Video Mentor; Cisco LAN Switching Video Mentor; and CCNP SWITCH Exam Certification Guide. David lives in Kentucky with his wife, Marci, and two daughters.

Dave Garneau is a senior member of the Network Security team at Rackspace Hosting, Inc. Before that, he was the principal consultant and senior technical instructor at The Radix Group, Ltd. In that role, Dave trained more than 3,000 students in nine countries on Cisco technologies, mostly focusing on the Cisco security products line, and worked closely with Cisco in establishing the new Cisco Certified Network Professional Security (CCNP Security) curriculum. Dave has a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from Metropolitan State College of Denver. Dave lives in San Antonio, Texas, with his wife, Vicki, and their two brand new baby girls, Elise and Lauren.

Anthony Sequeira, CCIE No. 15626, is a Cisco Certified Systems Instructor (CCSI) and author regarding all levels and tracks of Cisco Certification. Anthony formally began his career in the information technology industry in 1994 with IBM in Tampa, Florida. He quickly formed his own computer consultancy, Computer Solutions, and then discovered his true passion—teaching and writing about Microsoft and Cisco technologies. Well done!

This book not only got me to pass my exam, it is *almost* a cookbook for the ASA. I was needing to "formalize" my ASA knowledge, had worked with them for some years but never had formal training. This covers everything on the 642-518 exam and does it well. Not as of 3/14: if you want the CCNP Security cert, this exam is only accepted through 12/31/14 - if you will take all the exams this year, this book is excellent but if not, get a book for the new 300 series exam(s) (and this one could well be updated, if so 5 stars for the new edition.)

It is just the book I needed

This book is literally awesome, it is easy to understand, and it covers all ASA topics. One of those things I liked in this book was the configuration examples, it does not leave you with any doubt or any qustion in mind like "what if .... or in case of ... etc etc", it is a very valid resource for preparing for the exam. Last chapter "Traffic Analysis Tools" is a tremendous useful one, it covers all the stuff to analyze and do troubleshooting in case of issues, with configuration examples too. Even I'm not an english mothertounge, it was very easy for me to understand its contents.

Passed the CCNP Security Firewall thanks to this book

Took my CCNP Firewall v2 exam last week and passed it! Used this book for my studies along with Labs and CBT Nuggets. The book is very clear and well written. One of the best Cisco Press books I have ever read. This is the type of book you want to keep handy for all you ASA engineers. Great examples and the questions at the beginning of each chapter helped me a lot. They gave me a baseline of what I needed to focus on during my studies.

On to VPN next!

The Firewall book is a great book and I HIGHLY recommend it!

For this companion, which is international in scope, editor Lenman (retired, University of Warwick) assembled more than 1,600 entries, of which approximately 800 cover photographers, past and present, and others affiliated with photography. Remaining entries deal with countries, photographic terms and technology, genres, photographic themes (for example, Sociology and photography), and other topics. Several one- to two-page special essays (for example, "Inner-German Border Photography, 1952-1989") are interspersed throughout the volume, as are about 300 photographs, 48 of which are color plates. Article length varies from a short paragraph to several pages (as in the four-and-a-half-page Germany). Content leans toward the historical and theoretical rather than the practical. For example, Lighting and lighting equipment describes key light, fill, and effects lights, then traces the historical development of lighting in photography. Biographical entries emphasize contributions to photography. Entries on countries and photographic themes cover a wide range. Even more diverse, entries on photographic genres cover the popular (e.g., Photojournalism, Sports photography) and the less popular (e.g., Exploration photography, Zoo photography).

Within articles, an asterisk by a word indicates a separate entry. Some articles offer see also references; many also contain short bibliographies, in some cases listing non-English publications. Articles conclude with the initials of one of 180 contributors. Additional features include a thematic table of contents, a chronology, a topically arranged bibliography, a list of key Web sites arranged by type of site and country, and an "Index of People and Companies."

With articles covering such current topics as the Camera phone, Internet, and Photoblogging, this title updates older resources. About the Author

Dr Robin Lenman has just retired from his post as Senior Lecturer in the Department of History, University of Warwick, where he taught an MA course on Photography and Society in Europe. His research specialisms include European visual culture, the social history of photography, and 19th- and 20th-century German and European history. His publications include Die Kunst, die Macht und das Geld (1994), and Artists and Society in Germany 1850-1910 (1997).

Outstanding photographic reference book

This is an excellent reference book on photography. It covers noted photographers, photographic history, photographic theories, and a great deal more. Oxford Companion books are well known for their exceptionally good quality. The section on digital imaging, for example, is one of the best I have ever read.

Please note that this is a reference book. It is not designed to teach photography. However, any serious photographer or photography student will find this book useful. This book would also make a superb gift for anyone interested in photography.

*THE* definitive reference to the world of the Photograph

This outstanding book covers every aspect of photography, from techniques, to biographies of photographers, to photographs and exhibitions and much more. It is a perfect resource for anyone with an interest in photgraphy, from the art lover to the novice photographer to the most seasoned professional photographers. I was really impressed with the paper quality, and the image quality. It is definitely as described, lavishly illustrated with some breath-taking photgraphs, in color and black and white throughout. And of course, the jacket design makes this a perfect coffee-table book, one you can pick up and browse, and find something interesting every time you dip in to it. For a big, fat art book, the price isn't bad either. Highly recommended for anyone with interest in photography.

A Valuable Resource

It is through and useful. It's useful as a reference for various techniques, but I use it mostly as a way to refresh my memory on the hundreds, even thousands, of photographers of whom I've heard or encountered. Really first rate reference book.

These calling cards are so simple to use and bypass the usual struggle of over analyzing what you truly like to do

I am a mental health therapist and watched a public tv show where Richard Leider presented his concepts. I was impressed by his authenticity and insights, so I decided to get a multiple titles of his books and also these Calling Cards. These calling cards are so simple to use and bypass the usual struggle of over analyzing what you truly like to do. What your 'driving needs' are. Your "motivated skills". My husband and I tested them out today and did them separately (for ourselves) and then double checked with each other to see if we agreed not only with our own - but with each other's results. And we did. It was simple, quick, and very revealing. Additionally, we laid out our top five cards and saw that they actually build on each other into a literal sentence (eg: the tie together literally into their own sentence about us) that very accurately showed how we focus and what we prefer. I am impressed, and bought 10 more to give to clients to use. EXCELLENT !!!
