A must read for church planters!

Very moving and powerful stuff here and certainly not your average autobiography (if you can even call it that). Randy has some really great thoughts about church, life, children, marriage, the list goes on...His communication is both witty, sincere, and to the point. This is a must read for anyone who's involved in church and/or ministry, wanted to be, has been, or knew someone who was! Understanding Randy's story has given me better clarity about what God did and is going to do both through me and the church as a whole.

With characteristic wit and charm, Randy Bohlender weaves a compelling story of God's faithfulness through the birth and death of a struggling church plant. In an age when church planting success is frequently measured by the number of members and the sales volume of carefully branded publications, Bohlender suggests a view of God's faithfulness and active role in building faith in his children that eschews the typically trappings of "success." Here is a story about how a "failed" church plant became the forge in which a radical dependence on God was shaped and refined.
Make no mistake, Bohlender started his journey with an all too common expectation of what obedience to God would bring. He is delightfully honest about his own expectations, frustrations, and flubs. I suspect that he is keenly aware of the irony of writing what is destined to become a best-selling book that suggests we should define spiritual success in ways more profound than by the number of best selling books our ministry produces.

Jesus Killed My Church is a wonderful glimpse into the journey God has penned for R. Bohlender and his family. Bohlender is a fabulous story teller. Pair that with his commitment to seek and follow Jesus in every facet of his (and his family's) life and you have a story that grips your heart.
When pursuing the Lord's will for our life the direction God takes us often doesn't make sense. Jesus Killed My Church is a narrative of all of those "things that don't make sense" coming together. It isn't just a story of Bohlender's faithfulness but more so of God's faithfulness.
This is one of those books I will read more than once.
